Straw marquetry is an ancient craft made famous during the Art Deco period when it was first used on walls and furniture by famous decorators using mainly rye straw that have been washed clean and dyed, the straws are split and scraped or ironed into flat ribbons before being applied piece-by-piece in a meticulous hand technique. All colors are possible from Yellow to black. Alexander Lamont produces straw marquetry furniture and wall coverings for high-end projects and yachts to order.
