Basis Rho is a high-grade architectural material that was conceived by Jeschkelanger, an artist duo specializing in glass, its use of substantial 3D-glass shards, gives the blank surface of cement a mesmerizing visual presence. Glass is a non-biodegradable substance due to its nature but it is one that can be easily reused. The duo experimented with glass through a series of physical trial and error but this led to a very good understanding of glass not only as a surface but as a three-dimensional artifact. Each remnant is individually selected for its color, size and shape. These pieces are embed in a pigmented cement mixture to create unique tiles.
