San Francisco’s Prowl design studio and Chicago’s M4 Factory collaborated on The PEEL Chair, exclusively composed of hemp-based materials. Hemp bast fiber, a byproduct of hemp and cannabis processing, forms the chair and its components. The chair’s structural frame, made from a blend of hemp bast fiber and biopolymers, is injection molded for durability. A unique hemp foam cushion, encased in hemp bioleather, crowns the design. Despite sharing fibrous content, the frame last long and biodegrades in six months, while the cushion is home compostable, allowing for easy and responsible disposal.
