Disposable plastic and paper cups are an environmental mess. Inspired by the Indian tea cups called “Kulhars”, Gaeastar, a startup based in Berlin and San Francisco created disposable clay cups made from earthen materials that disintegrate naturally without any environmental impact. The sustainable single-use cups are made with only clay, water, salt and use very little energy. To produce these thin cups, Gaeastart had to develop a special 3D-printer and aims to establish cup-printing centers near its customers and source clay locally.
