The purpose of i-did, which Mireille founded, is social inclusion via employment. i-did began as a Slow Fashion brand before changing course and providing raw materials a second opportunity at recycling.
Together with the leftover garbage, we all discard over 200 million kilograms of textiles annually. i-did uses repurposed felt from fabrics that would otherwise be thrown away to create high-quality design goods. Moreover, recycled felt is used to create acoustic interior items, laptop sleeves, and purses. I-felt, or recycled felt, is created from leftover textiles that would otherwise be burned. We are able to identify the written-off uniforms from KLM, De Efteling, IKEA, Defense, and others.
Recycled textiles are used to create every hue of felt. I-did recycles fabrics into lovely felt, which reduces water use and carbon emissions. Because the products are sorted textiles, the colors may vary somewhat from the picture.
The deep hues accentuate one another to create a cohesive, angular, and cozy whole. Despite being unwearable, the dark gray consumer apparel that went into its creation has a significant impact in its new form. Beautiful vivid blue felt, derived from the uniforms of KLM’s cabin crew. The deep dark blue with specks of bright blue is derived from the pilots’ outfits.
