TAMIYA RADEN develops textiles by combining traditional Japanese Raden craftsmanship with contemporary fabric production techniques. Natural materials including silk, sea shells, lacquer, wood, and leather are layered and integrated to create richly textured, light-reactive surfaces. The process involves cutting and polishing ultra-thin shell fragments, embedding them into woven or coated textile bases, and finishing them through repeated lacquering and hand polishing. By merging artisanal handwork with experimental material layering, the studio produces fabrics that shift in color and reflectivity depending on movement and light.
